I was born in Australia and shortly afterward my family went back to Nigeria where I spent my pre-adolescent years. It was in these formative years of my life when I learned the fundamental values of life from my parents who were devout Muslims and culturally sound. Kindness, patience, compassion, and devotion were values ever-present in my youth. Despite the discipline that came with my cultural upbringing, I remained free-thinking and true to my path. At an early age, I found the connection between the mind and the body. This led me to appreciate my being both mentally and physically. If I was not running around, riding my bike, or rollerblading, I preferred to read adventure and mystery books. At age 12, around the time my family moved to New York, I devoted my life to soccer. My 20-year soccer career included playing Div 1 Soccer at Stony Brook University from 2004-2008. Post-college, I proceeded to play professionally in Puerto Rico for three seasons and two seasons with Wilmington Hammerheads in North Carolina. I have since moved on to the coaching arena training several travel teams for Gold Coast FC. In 2014, after a few challenging life experiences which brought me to a depressed state, I was fortunate to start practicing Yoga which has since become my primary form of self-development. I received my 200hrs teacher training from J. Brown in 2017 and at that same time became a partner at Samudra Yoga where I currently teach weekly. In a commitment to further share health and wellness, I teamed up with two long-time friends to open Remy Rouge Culture Center, a creative and production agency prioritizing the arts, collective wellness, and cultural storytelling. What I have always known to be true, is that fluidity in mind and body are of the highest value and are necessary for peace and unity. I created Musa Yoga Athletics in 2017 to encompass all paths I take towards sharing health and wellness with the world.
